About Me

I am a first-year doctoral student in Health Economics at the University of Basel, Switzerland. My interests lie in data science and the economics of the environment and health.

In my role as a research assistant before starting my PhD, I worked on several exciting research projects. My bachelor’s thesis on the interdependency of electric vehicle ownership and the availability of charging infrastructure in Norway was published in Energy Policy (link). I also participated in a research project on the impact of an opening-and-testing experiment on health outcomes during the COVID-19 pandemic. The resulting paper was published in PLOS ONE (link). During my master’s studies, I developed a deep interest in using machine learning to derive innovative insights that can shed light on complex economic and environmental phenomena.

Research Assistant - Social Data Science Labs

Monash University, Aug 2023 – January 2024
  • Collaborated on research on using daylight satellite imagery to predict economic activity in developing countries with Klaus Ackermann and Paul Raschky
  • Programmed several neural networks for semantic segmentation. Implemented custom ResNets, EfficientNets and Vision Transformers in TensorFlow from scratch

Student Assistant - Chair of Marketing

Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen, Oct 2021 – May 2023
  • Conducted research on large-scale Scientific Computing using Docker and AWS
  • Assisted in the preparation of lectures, assignments and seminars. This often involved writing R code and markdown documents
  • Programmed several solutions in R for administrative automation at the chair

Working Student - ServiceNow Development

PlanHorizon GmbH, Apr 2021 – Aug 2022
  • Prepared and presented solution demonstrators for pre-sales in frontier industries (Pharmaceuticals and Chemistry)
  • Developed an AI solution for mail categorization in JavaScript on the ServiceNow Now Platform
  • Created a functional prototype for a ServiceNow ITBM solution in Pharma R&D management. This encompasses additional working experience in html and Angular JS

Student Research Assistant - Chair of Macroeconomics

  • Co-authored a research paper on the Covid pandemic published in PLOS ONE. Responsible of data management, visualizations and statistical programming in R and Stata
  • Assisted Prof. Dr. Wälde at the Chair of Macroeconomics with his empirical research
  • Created lecture slides using R and REST API interfaces
